- I really enjoyed Clint’s presentation last night. The fact that he had taken the time to research and know something about his audience and welcomed interaction made it very informative and enjoyable. This was a refreshing change from many canned YouTube presentations I’ve tried to watch, which were poorly done, fuzzy video or muddy audio, or a badly prepared presenter stumbling his way through, with any valuable info lost along the way. Thanks for hooking this one up.
- Clint is our premier AMSAT Ambassador, conducting an endless series of these great presentations across the country. His contributions are really appreciated. - Frank N1UW, AMSAT VP
- Hi Clint, It was a real hoot! It was fun being your "target" and I think we all enjoyed it.
I really like your presentation style, it is so relaxed, personal and really moves along.
Oh, and one thing more, I learned a lot!
Thanks and 73,
Dale R. Williams WA8EFK

- Clint, Thanks again for a great presentation and a lot of laughs tonight! People had a great time.
I can see why your program is so popular. You two are quite a team and have quite a good routine!
- Hello Clint, I'm very impressed with your dedication to helping out other hams. It takes someone truly passionate about ham radio to give 140 presentations, and I really appreciate you giving one to our club.
- Hi Clint, Thanks for taking the time to speak to our club. When I first got my license I came across your site and was blown away that my little 5 watt hand held could communicate with satellites. I went through a few home-built antennas with some great success. A sincere thanks for putting your knowledge out there on the Web, I feel it was a huge factor in my pursuing ham radio as a hobby.
- Clint: thanks so much for taking the time to talk to our club on Wednesday evening.Your talk was terrific. I learned a lot and I'm anxious to share the experience with my young grandkids.
I was monitoring the participants throughout the meeting, and NO ONE left the meeting. Quite a tribute to you! I very much enjoyed your sense of humor as well. Thanks again.
- Please let me thank you (and Karen) for an AWESOME and entertaining presentation. You are one of those very positive examples of people in this hobby that makes it so great. Your presentation was informative and very entertaining, and with the assistance of your wife Karen it was run error-free. Our team would highly recommend this presentation to anyone exploring Amateur Radio Satellites.
- Take heart my friend. Even Lex Luthor didn’t like (hated) Superman for the good he did. You are not alone. Thank you for your efforts in the groups and maintaining your website. Many new, and old, hams are excited about communicating with space objects.
- I just want to take a moment or two to thank you and Karen for an outstanding presentation last light. I did not see a closed eye.
Plus that was a record attendance. Plus having a great guest speaker and getting the word out far enough in advance does surely help too.
Again Thank you.
- Great job with the Delaware Valley club meeting. Your presentation is informative, entertaining and thoroughly fun. Thanks!
- I watched your presentation on the Vimeo replay. It was an excellent show.
- I just wanted to thank you for all the great info on getting started with FM birds ...
I have only been working Satellites a grand total of four days and have made a
dozen or so contacts. The info on your Website was instrumental for my success
right out of the gate. Again Thanks and 73.
- I appreciate you dating the website. Most of what I find regarding the birds are very old and outdated! This is the first site that I have found listing "current" active sats.
- I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for the wonderful presentation this evening at the Pasadena (CA) Radio Club. It was one of the very BEST presentations we have had [a 50-year-old club] and you did a masterful job in presenting the material and making it fun at the same time. I am sure the presentation motivated many of our club members to get active in working the FM satellites.
- To say I was DELIGHTED to find your Web site and to learn about working satellites is the ultimate understatement. I'm a relatively new ham (Technician for several months now) and will be upgrading to General at the Dayton Hamvention. I've been focusing on satellite work and have followed your recommendations ...
- I don’t think I’ll ever forget Clint Bradford’s last presentation to our club about satellites. He stopped right in the middle of his talk, looked at his watch and declared: “You know, it’s one thing to TALK about how fun and easy it is to work a satellite, so I want EVERYBODY TO GET UP, and let’s walk out to the parking lot to work a satellite! And we marched out of the restaurant meeting room while his wife stayed behind to watch our stuff as Clint showed us how to talk to three countries (Mexico, the U.S. and Canada) on that particular pass.
- I would like to thank everyone that responded to my query here and for providing suggestions and encouraging words. Special thanks go out to Clint K6LCS for his suggestions and of course John K8YSE for being very patient and making the contact and confirming it later on. Good luck to all trying to make their first satellite contact! Keep trying and you will make it eventually. My journey has begun.
- Wow, I had no idea the el-cheepo tape measure yagis could do that. I’ll have to try that with mine! Great Web site, too.
- THANKS FOR THE LINK IT HAS BEEN PROVEN TO BE HELPFUL YOU WILL BE MY GO TO GUY FROM NOW ON!!!!!!
- Thank you so much for your presentation last night. Until I heard your talk I had no interest in satellites and you certainly changed that with your info on using HTs ...
- I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the very informative presentation you gave last night. You have convinced me to try working satellites.
- Good job Clint. I appreciated the Skype presentation you gave to the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club. I could not make it and my friend Craig, KL4E was able to line you up via Skype for the event ... It was well-received ... Keep up the good work.

- Just read your 4-page article on the internet about working the birds. This is "PRICELESS." I appreciate your tireless effort and work in supplying the rest of us hams all the info on how to contact the birds. I have a Kenwood TH-D72A and building the antennas for 2M/440. Should have it completed shortly and ready to make some contacts. I have been licensed since 1960. BTW, I took some photos the last 2 times I attended your presentation.
- Wow. I had no idea this site existed! Good stuff, especially for someone relatively new to satellite stuff. Thank you, thank you, and thank you for creating this great resource.
- K6LCS gave a fantastic presentation on amateur satellites. It was most informative and entertaining. Clint's passion for the subject was evident, and I would imagine that the club members individually and or in a group will be eager to try satellite contact in the near future.
- I wanted to thank you for your wealth of information on your website. I've been a Ham for a little over two months now, and on my first radio (a Yaesu FT1DR) and using the information from your site I made contacts on SO-50 on my first try using my HT and an Arrow mounted on a tripod (to free my hands up). This is way more fun than I thought I would have with an HT.
- The site is just fine. I just didn't know it existed and was about to give up on working FM birds because the [another site] site is such a mess with outdated information and broken links.
- Can't see how to improve on perfection. Keep up the great work.
- I appreciate you dating the website. Most of what I find regarding the birds are very old and outdated! This is the first site that I have found listing "current" active sats.
- Everything in the site is great! But more specifically - the well-written and easy-to- understand instructions on how to work SATCOMs, information on the HTs and the antennas. This site was a great follow up to your article in the May 2012 CQ magazine.
- You have continually added enhancements and updates via the website and message group that we all appreciate
- The site seems like a one-stop location for the FM SATs for ham radio. Looking forward to trying this out, with the info provided from the site. Very nicely done!
- Because of your help on the phone, you made me love my radio again!
- I’m a newbie and last night (using a FT-60 and Elk L-5) I was able to contact SO-50 on my very first attempt at satellite work! All due to your excellent website!
-Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the great FM ham satellite demonstration. SO-50 downlink of only .250 milliwatts was awesome to listen to ... when you consider the science and low power, hard to put into words - but you had the crowd all smiles! Will be looking forward to the August launch from Vandenberg of the new satellite with the VHF downlink you'd mentioned. Also appreciate your introduction to Carl from ARRL. Take care 73
- Your site took me from zero knowledge in to getting an HT and an Arrow. In less than four months I have qualified for VUCC on the FM birds. A great site for the beginner on the birds. It un-mystifies the birds.
-Oh, your site was certainly put to use for my first SO-50 contacts! I used your frequency list to program my FT-60 and many of the tips and tricks helped make the difference! Thank you for all the great info you have put together. Very fun.
- Love the site and I greatly appreciate the information you have provided to get me going!
- Simplicity ... the idea of working sats "sounds complicated" but that’s really not the case. You keep the language simple, illustrations simple, and concept simple ... you give folks the idea that any ham can do this (which they can) with the right equipment ... if they follow the directions provided here.
- Great site. Thanks for the help on email and phone. Look forward in meeting with you at one of the meetings. Thanks again and keep in touch.
- The thing I like most is that: After reading this article, I really believe that I can work the satellites as well. Thanks and 73s from Romania.
- In all actuality, this is better than the XXXXXXXX site. You can actually find answers to questions here!
- Easy to follow, lots of resources for the new Sat-op. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to get into Sat-ops.
- The updated information content and resources you provide for a new sat user or a seasoned vet like some. Just keep on doing it! And by the way ... THANK YOU!
- Great job. I worked a satellite on first try using your instructions for programming an HT. I'm hooked!
- Straightforward, practical information ... makes me want to give it a try.
- The four-page guide to satellites still has a lot of high-end information for not only a new ham, but experienced hams who have never tried satellite comms.
- You give "JUST THE FACTS" without all the BS. I am new to Sats and found this very straightforward and easy to understand. I can't wait for my first outing.
- Between this site and your message group I've been able to go from knowing nothing about working satellites to being able to do it pretty quickly.
- I had never thought of working the birds. I mainly concentrated on HF with a little 2m on the local repeaters. It was time for me to get a new HT and during that process I thought about a dual bander. Somehow I came upon this site. I got jazzed, bought a small whip, then an Arrow. Within a year I had completed VUCC and WAS. Both with 5 watts and the Arrow. Had it not been for this site I don't believe I would have discovered this part of the hobby. What a blast it is "working the birds" with such a reasonable investment. Great Site! 73.
- The site itself is just fine. I just didn't know it existed and was about to give up on working FM birds because the [XXXXXXXX] site is such a mess with outdated information and broken links.
- The site seems like a one stop location for the FM SATs, for ham radio. Looking forward to trying this out, with the info provided from the site. Very nicely done!
- I appreciate you dating the website. Most of what I find regarding the birds are very old and outdated! This is the first site that I have found listing "current" active sats.
- Good solid information to a "new" HAM. Easy to understand. Wish more HAM sites (and HAMs) were like this!
