AO-51

On November 29, 2011, the AO-51 command team declared “end of mission” for AO-51. It was a very easily worked FM satellite, and it was responsible for getting hundreds of hams interested in this aspect of our hobby.

My last update - from 11/28/11 - AO-51 ops are intermittent at best - and the past 72 hours have been dismal. AO-51 experienced a software (IHU) crash 11/25/11. Three of its six battery cells are dead or dying. Its output has been turned down to 300mW - and no positive reception reports have been received since 11/25/11. Control team trying to test different modes. Nothing heard from AO-51 during passes at 2:31PM PST 11/27 nor 2:51PM PST 11/29 in DM13fx.

A GREAT Easy Sat! But ...

There are other “easy-to-work” satellites for you to get to know - check the Sat Skeds above for more information.
